Jack and Sandy Huang found Newland Computers, named in commemoration of their hope and dreams for the "new land" of the United States after immigrating from China in 1989. The business, known today as PC Land, starts off as a quaint little shop occupying only 200 square feet in Colony Park on South Main Street, Blacksburg.
Finding incredible success in the first year, Newland Computers moves just one block away to a lot of over 1000 square feet in order to accommodate increasing demand for computer services.
After being called Mr. and Mrs. Newland for what seemed like the millionth time, Jack and Sandy officially rename the company to PC Land Incorporated.
PC Land moves to Blacksburg Square, just a few stores down from its current Blacksburg location.
PC Land opens a second store on Williamson Road in Roanoke, VA.
The Blacksburg store moves to its current location at 1333 South Main Street.
A third store opens on Electric Road in Roanoke, VA.
The Williamson Road location combines with the Electric Road location for a more comprehensive and centralized customer experience.
